February 2024 Wrap Up

February was SUCH a fantastic reading month! February wasn’t the most calmest of months IRL, so my top go-to comfort was reading as always.

February Reads

I read 11 books and 1 novella from the Improbable Meet Cute series in February. My FAVORITES of the month were Shark Heart by Emily Habeck, House of Flame and Shadow by Sarah J. Maas, and Fangirl Down by Tessa Bailey. I also REALLY enjoyed Don’t Forget to Write by Sara Goodman Confino and Canadian Boyfriend by Jenny Holiday.

Fangirl Down by Tessa Bailey Fangirl Down might be my favorite sports romance ever! This one follows the fangirl of a professional golf player who’s at a low point in his career and circumstances lead her into becoming his caddy. I’m totally ready to eat up Tessa Bailey’s backlist now. My Rating: 5/5 Stars

House of Flame and Shadow (Crescent City #3)by Sarah J. Maas – We all know basically any Sarah J.Maas book is a guaranteed five stars for me. I loved the way this story ends (& leaves room for more). My Rating: 5/5 Stars

Shark Heart by Emily Habeck – This was my book club’s pick for February after we discussed how much the hosts of Bad on Paper podcast loved it. This one got mixed reviews in my group, but I LOVED it. All you need to know going is it that it follows a recently married couple who finds out that the husband is going through a medical condition where he will turn into a shark. My Rating: 5/5 Stars

Don’t Forget to Write by Sara Goodman Confino – The first half of Don’t Forget to Write was a bit of a slog for me, but I had an unexpected snow day where I gobbled up the last half. I don’t want to give any spoilers, but I loved the ending. This book is set in the 1960s when a girl is sent to her matchmaker aunt’s for the summer after she’s caught kissing the rabbi’s son. I am really looking forward to Sara Goodman Confino’s August 2024 release, Behind Every Good Man. My Rating: 4/5 Stars

Bride by Ali Hazelwood – I read Bride because I have to read every Ali Hazelwood book, and as a non paranormal reader (it’s a romance between a vampire and a werewolf), I ended up loving this one! My Rating: 4/5 Stars

Canadian Romance by Jenny Holiday – Canadian Romance is the perfect read for when you’re looking for a wholesome romance. The book follows a former ballerina and dance teacher who becomes a live-in nanny for the daughter of a professional hockey player. My Rating: 4/5 Stars

The Catch (The Influencer #3) by Amy Lea (The Influencer #3) – The Catch is a grumpy sunshine romance set an inn that needs much love in Nova Scotia. This is the conclusion companion novel to Amy Lea’s Influencer series. Like the first two books, The Catch was a really cute rom-com. My Rating: 4/5 Stars *I received this book in exchange for review

Good Material by Dolly Alderton – I LOVED Dolly Alderton’s debut fiction book, Ghosts, in 2021, so I was looking forward to Good Material, a break-up novel written from the male perspective. This one was just “okay” for me – yes, I was absolutely addicted because I do love Dolly’s writing style, but it wasn’t a super impactful read for me like Ghosts. My Rating: 4/5 Stars

Twisted Love (Twisted #1) by Ana Huang – There has been so much hype for Ana Huang’s Twisted series that finally got to me. I low key hated the male MC, but this is one of the most addicting books I ever read and I’m about to start reading the sequel after writing this post! My Rating: 3/5 Stars

With Any Luck (The Improbable Meet-Cute #5) by Ashley Poston – I agree with most reviews that this novella felt rushed – I know it’s a novella, but we got so much more in the CLo and Abby Jimenez’s Improbable Meet-Cute installments. My Rating: 3/5 Stars

Right on Cue by Falon Ballard – I loveee Falon Ballard’s first two books, Lease on Love and Just My Type, so I was looking forward to her latest release, Right on Cue. The book is a Hollywood set, enemies to lovers romance, following a screenwriter who returns to the screen herself and the guy she starred in her debut film with (that totally tanked). While I liked the premise, I was not a fan of the MMC and I just didn’t understand the original tension and then chemistry between them. My Rating: 3/5 Stars *I received this book in exchange for review

Inside Out & Back Again by Thanhhà Lại – This is an upcoming whole group novel I’m reading with my sixth grade class. It is a novel told in verse following a girl who is forced to flee Vietnam due to the war and come to the United States.
