My Favorite Books of 2023

It’s time for one of my favorite posts of the year: my 2023 favorite reads! As I’m sharing this list two days before New Years Eve, I’ve read 165 books in 2023 – I’m hoping to squeeze in at least one or two more before the new year. The 40 books (sorry to the idea of doing a top 23 of 2023!) below are in no particular order.

What are your favorite books of 2023? Have you read any of the ones I shared? Share in the comments!

CHRISTMAS READS & MORE FAV BOOKS: Mid December 2023 Reading Update

Welcome to another what I’ve been reading post, featuring two new favorite books of 2023! I also read the Finlay Donovan novella based on Vero, another super popular Christmas read, and two memoirs, including THE memoir of the year from a certain pop singer.

I’ve been telling myself that I need to get back to writing full reviews as soon as I finish a book, but honestly, I just find myself starting a new one in that same moment…and I kind’ve love it more than rushing to my laptop to crank out this review. Maybe it’s just this season of life, aka making me take advantage of any free time to read. Maybe also blame it on the way that we’re now consuming content, but I find myself enjoying shorter form reviews vs.longer form content.  You’ll definitely be hearing from me pretty soon though with my favorite books of 2023 and what books I have on my 2024 anticipated release so far. Anyway, let’s just get to the books!

Check & Mate by Ali Hazelwood – Check & Mate is one of my favorites of 2023 & probably even my favorite YA of 2023! Yes, this is one I probably should’ve written a full review for because I loved it so much. I do think it should be marked more so as a new adult vs YA, as it follows a college age protagonist who is staying home instead of taking advantage of scholarship offers to help take care of her family, until she enters a chess tournament and beats one of the best players in the world. Yes, you read that right, this is a chess-centered YA contemporary that TOTALLY works. My Rating: 5/5 Stars

Faking Christmas by Kerry Winfrey – Kerry Winfrey’s Faking Christmas is the second favorite of 2023 I mentioned in my introduction, and it’s definitely my favorite Christmas-themed read of 2023. This book is what I want in a Christmas read – pure fun with Christmas everywhere. The book follows a woman, Laurel, who has lied to her boss about owning her twin sister’s farm in rural Ohio in order to get her job at an online magazine, and a miscommunication finds her having to host her boss for Christmas at her sister’s farm…and be fake married to her arch-nemesis to keep up the charade. My Rating: 5/5 Stars
