There’s so many books that I’ve read recently AND books that I plan on reading that I want to talk about today! I’ll be sharing some mini reviews on 4 recent books that I’ve read and 4 books I have on my March 2022 TBR (plus some anticipated releases on my library holds list!)

What I’ve Recently Read 

Finlay Donovan Knocks ‘Em Dead (Finlay Donovan #2) by Elle Cosimano – Finlay Donovan Is Killing It was one of my favorite books of 2021 & I just reread the first book in time for the sequel, Finlay Donovan Knocks ‘Em Dead. I don’t want to give spoilers for either book, but I really enjoyed how the plot built upon and connected back to the first book – and still managed to make me laugh throughout! I need the third book ASAP! My Rating: 5/5 Stars 

Once More with Chutzpah by Haley Neil – Once More with Chutzpah follows high school senior Tally and her twin brother Max on a temple exchange trip to Israel. Both Max & Tally have suffered from a recent loss in their loss, but Tally is more focused on her brother feeling better while ignoring her own issues. On this trip, Tally is able to confront loss, her sexual identity, her relationship with Judaism, and so much more. Once More with Chutzpah with a fun coming-of-age book that was filled with diverse representation, including Judaism and LGBTQ. My Rating: 4/5 Stars 

Before the Ever After by Jacqueline Woodson – One of my favorite teacher bloggers, Abby Gross from @writeonwithmissg, recently taught a poetry unit with Before the Ever After and her rave review made me want to read it ASAP. I also read one of the poems, “If You Love a Thing,” from the book with my class for a lesson on the imagery. The book follows a twelve year old protagonist whose father is suffering from traumatic brain injury as a result of the concussions he experienced as a professional football player. I ate this book up in one sitting. I enjoyed the focus on family and the attention it brings to TBI and football. My Rating: 4/5 Stars

March 2022 TBR 

My March reading is a mix of new releases as per usual & advance books that are coming out this month & in April.I have a bunch of upcoming books on hold from the library that I’m hoping to get to as soon as I get my hands on them, including Our Italian Summer by Rebecca Serle, If You Ask Me by Libby Hubscher, and In a New York Minute by Kate Spencer. I plan on hopefully reading more than the books I’ve included below, but these are a few of my priority reads: 

House of Sky & Breath (Crescent City #2) by Sarah J. Maas – I originally planned on reading the second book in Sarah J. Maas’ Crescent City series in February, but I ultimately didn’t pick up House of Earth & Blood until the last full week in February. I know it’s going to take me at least a week to read the 800+ page read, but I don’t want to rush either because I love SJM’s books so much (and know it’s likely we won’t get a new Crescent City or ACOTAR book until 2023).

The Viscount Who Loved Me (Bridgerton #2) by Julia Quinn – I’m not the biggest historical romance fan, but after loving Bridgerton S1, I read the Duke & I and now want to read the entire series. I will be reading the sequel, The Viscount Who Loved Me, to see how it translates into season 2 of the show. I’m not sure yet if I’ll try to binge-read the rest of the series soon after or continue to read as new seasons of the show come out.

She Gets the Girl by Rachael Lippincott & Alyson Derrick – I’m so excited to be able to read an advance copy of Alyson Derrick and Rachael Lippincott’s She Gets the Girl, the married author duo’s first co-written book together! A college-set YA romance, She Gets the Girl follows complete opposites Alex and Molly work together to get their dream girls to fall for them…and end up falling for each other along the way

I Killed Zoe Spanos by Kit Frick – I was on a mega YA thriller/mystery kick this winter and l borrowed I Killed Zoe Spanos from my local library after loving an advance copy of Kit Frick’s upcoming Very Bad People. I definitely got distracted by shiny new releases, but I’m hoping to read I Killed Zoe Spanos before I finally have to return it in 2 weeks.
