April 2023 Anticipated Releases

Although I definitely had some anticipated books over the first three months of 2023, April marks the beginning of my most anticipated books of the year. I’m so looking forward to what’s coming out in April, as well as from May through July.

Romantic Comedy by Curtis Sittenfeld – I’ve read two of Curtis Sittenfeld’s novels Rodham, an alternate historical fiction read following Hillary Clinton that I loved, and her cult classic, Prep, which I felt medium about. Romantic Comedy has gotten rave early reviews, following a sketch writer for a SNL like show.  Release Date: April 4

Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez – I loved Abby Jimenez’s Part of Your World in 2022, and this novel follows Alexis’s best friend, Dr. Brianna Ortiz. It seems like a workplace romance with heavier themes, as Brianna’s brother needs a kidney and her new workplace rival may have the solution — serving as his donor. RD: April 11

Throwback by Maureen Goo – I love Maurene Goo’s YA contemporaries, and I’m so excited she’s back with a time travel book, Throwback. The novel follows a girl who gets transported to the 1990s when something goes wrong with her ride share app, only to meet the 17 year old version of her mother at the mall. RD: April 11

Adelaide by Genevieve Wheeler – Genevieve Wheeler’s debut has gotten so much attention on Instagram. This is a dark romance following a twenty-six year old American woman living in London who meets a guy who may not have the same level of feelings for her. RD: April 18

Sunshine: A Graphic Novel by Jared Krosoczka – Jared Krosoczka’s young adult graphic memoir,Hey Kiddo, is one of my all-time favorite graphic novels. Sunshine is the follow-up novel, following Jarrett J. Krosoczka’s summer working at a summer camp for ill kids. I received a physical ARC, so I’m beyond excited to dive in ASAP. RD: April 18

Happy Place by Emily Henry – It goes without saying that Happy Place is on this list. Like the rest of the reading world, Happy Place is my #1 anticipated release of 2023. This contemporary romance from Emily Henry follows a couple who has been broken up for the past six months, but pretend to be together still when on vacation with their best friends in Maine. RD: April 25
