Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag: 2022 Edition

I typically y share the Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag in June, but decided to wait another week to be able to fully reflect on what I read during the first six months of the year (!!). If you want a taste of my reading (& how it’s changed) over my blogging years, check out my mid-year freak out tags for 2021, 2020, 2019, & 2017. And yes, get ready for me to have multiple answers to some of questions.

Best Book You’ve Read So Far in 2022: Book Lovers by Emily Henry

Honorable Favorites: Weather Girl by Rachel Lynn Solomon, One Italian Summer by Rebecca Serle, & The Dead Romantics by Ashley Poston

Best Sequel You’ve Read So Far: House of Sky & Breath (Crescent City #2) by Sarah J. Maas and Rivals (American Royals #3) by Katharine McGee

New Release(s) You Haven’t Read Yet, But Want To:  See You Yesterday by Rachel Lynn Solomon (yes, I cannot believe I haven’t read this one yet either!!)

Most Anticipated Release for the Second Half of the Year: Love on the Brain by Ali Hazelwood

Honorable Mentions: A Very Merry Bromance (Bromance Book Club #5) by Lyssa Kay Adams & Carrie Soto is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Biggest Disappointment: I feel HORRIBLE saying this because I LOVE her debut so much, but I have not really loved the STEMinist novella series,Under One Roof and Stuck with You. I had also read not-so great reviews before going on,  but I wanted to love & ultimately couldn’t The Roughest Draft by Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka.

Biggest Surprise: The Dead Romantics by Ashley Poston – I went into this one with legit 0 expectations and can’t stop screaming my love for it.

Favorite Author (Debut or New to You):

Debut: Falon Ballard (Lease on Love), Carley Fortune (Every Summer After), & Amanda Elliot (Sadie on a Plate

New to Me: Emiko Jean

New Fictional Crush: Ben from The Dead Romantics

New Favorite Character: Nora from Book Lovers

Book That Made You Cry: One Italian Summer by Rebecca Serle

Book that made you happy: When You Get the Chance by Emma Lord

Most beautiful book you’ve bought or received so far this year: I LOVE the color and design of Hannah Orenstein’s Meant to Be Mine

What books do you need to read by the end of the year?

My answer is always all of them, but here are some I definitely want to pick up:

An Offer from a Gentleman (Bridgerton #3) by Julia Quinn, The Island by Elin Hilderbrand, and The Beach Trap by Ali Brady

What have been some of your favorite books of the year? What are your anticipated releases for the rest of 2022? Have you done the Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag? Share in the comments!
