22 BOOK READING MONTH: August 2021 Wrap Up

In the words of Taylor Swift, this August “slipped away into a moment in time” so quickly! We’ve had some ‘meh’ summer weather where I live this month, so some days blurred together, but I definitely took advantage of the few sunny and not super humid days to run to the beach with a good book.

I read 22 books in August. I’ll include a bigger snapshot of my summer reading in my favorites post, but I’ve read the most amount of books over the summer than I ever have before! My favorite books this month (in no particular order) were The Guncle, Between Two Kingdoms, The Matchmaker, & The Beach Club.

The Beach Club by Elin Hilderbrand | 5/5

The Chair (Netflix) – The Chair is one of the few Netflix shows that I literally binged in the course of one day. Maybe blame it on the English major in me, but I loved this show starring Sandra Oh set in a college English department. So funny & felt really current.

Motel Makeover (Netflix) – Netflix’s HGTV style/renovation type shows have been mostly a flop for me, but I totally binge-watched their latest show, Motel Makeover, following two female business owners who renovate a roadside motel into a much more glamorous experience. There was something so addicting about this show and I of course want to book a getaway at the June Motel now!

Grace and Frankie S7 Part 1 (Netflix) – I am SO sad that only the first 4 episodes of Grace and Frankie came out and we have to wait until 2022 for the remainder of the final season. The first four episodes were so strong and while I can’t wait to see what happens next, I did like that it ended on a semi-cliff hanger.

Ted Lasso S2 (Apple TV) – I’m only a few episodes into the second season of Ted Lasso, but of course am loving it so far! Definitely worth having an Apple TV subscription just for this show alone.
