As I always say, I can’t believe it’s time for fall book season – don’t worry, I will likely continue to read by the pool & beach this September. Spring and fall have been competing for the best release season title when it comes to books I’m personally excited about for the past years – I’m not sure if there’s a clear winner just yet, but I am highly anticipating the contemporary romance and YA books below (and a holiday romance or two, of course). I decided to do just 1 fall releases post this year  & combine romance and YA picks together, & I’ve put the books in chronological order from September through November.

Never Saw You Coming by Erin Hahn – Erin Hahn’s Never Saw You Coming is my most anticipated YA release of the fall, since I love her previous 2 YA books and I’m always interested in YA books dealing with religion & faith. After Meg finds out her entire childhood is a lie, she takes a gap year trip to meet unknown family & meets Micah, a former pastor’s kid whose dad is in prison. Meg & Micah both have really complicated relationships with the church that I’m interested in reading more about, especially since the book was inspired by Erin Hahn’s own relationship with faith. The Charm Offensive by Alison Cochrun – I’ve recently seen so many positive early reviews for this queer Bachelor inspired contemporary romance, The Charm Offensive. The Charm Offensive follows reality TV producer Dev, whose job is to the disgraced tech star Charlie to connect with the 20 women on the show & the two find themselves having more chemistry with one another than any of the contestants. Mom Jeans and Other Mistakes by Alexa Martin – I’m so excited to see Alexa Martin break out of the Playbook world (even though I’m always ready for another football romance from her) with Mom Jeans & Other Mistakes. The book follows broke, single, best friends, Jude and Lauren, when they decide to do what they always talked about as teenagers: move in together, with Lauren’s five year old daughter and so much more baggage than they would have predicted as kids. RD: September 7 | Add It on Goodreads

The Shaadi Set-Up by Lillie Vale – I LOVED Lillie Vale’s YA debut, Small Town Hearts, a few years ago, so I’m excited to read her contemporary romance,The Shaadi Set-Up. I’ve felt mixed to be honest about tech/dating app type romances lately, but I have hope for this one: the book follows an Indian American woman who signs her and her boyfriends up on a matchmaking site to prove their compatibility, only to be matched with her ex high school sweetheart.RD: September 7 | Add It on Goodreads

A Lot Like Adiós by Alexis Daria – A Lot Like Adiós is the companion novel to Alexis Daria’s breakout contemporary romance, You Had Me at Hola. A Lot Like Adiós follows graphic designer, Michelle, whose love life is nonexistent since the one guy who made her want a happily ever after, Gabe, left the Bronx thirteen years ago. Now, gym co-owner Gabe is back in town to help open a NYC location, with Michelle on the team to help run the marketing campaign. RD: September 14 | Add It on Goodreads 

The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood – I haven’t read too many academic set romances, so I’m really looking forward to The Love Hypothesis. This is a fake dating romance between a Ph.D. candidate & biologist, Olive, and a young professor, Adam. RD: September 14 | Add It on Goodreads 

It All Comes Back to You by Farah Naz Rishi – I was fortunate enough to read a review copy of It All Comes Back to You & I LOVED it (full review coming closer to release date)! This YA contemporary follows exes Deen and Kiran, who come back together when their older siblings are engaged to another. RD: September 14 | Add It on Goodreads 

As If on Cue by Marisa Kanter – Marisa Kanter has become an auto-read author of mine, between her debut, What I Like About You, & her upcoming book,As If on Cue (which I was fortunate enough to read an ARC of & will have a full review shared closer to release date).  As If on Cue is an enemies-to-lovers YA contemporary, following rivals & play director Natalie&clarinet player Reid as they are forced to direct the school musical together in order to save their high school’s arts budget. Family and friendship are also two big elements in this one, and the book features Jewish protagonists. RD: September 21 | Add It on Goodreads

The Legacy (Off-Campus #4.5) by Elle Kennedy – I LOVE Elle Kennedy’s sports romance Off-Campus series (The Goal is my personal fave) and I don’t always find myself excited for novella collections, but I am SO looking forward to these four novella sequels following each couple in the series. The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling – I think The Ex Hex (written by Rachel Hawkins under the name Erin Sterling) is going to be the perfect Halloween type read. Witch Vivienne may have a put a curse on her ex boyfriend nine years ago, thinking everything would be fine, but her ex returns to town & soon everything begins to go wrong. The Matzah Ball by Jean Meltzer – Like so many other readers, I am so excited for a holiday romance that isn’t about Christmas or NYE, but instead Hanukkah with Jean Meltzer’s The Matzah Ball. The Matzah Ball follows romance writer, Rachel, whose publisher pressures Rachel into writing a Hanukkah inspired romance and teams up with her summer camp enemy, Jacob, to find her muse at the annual Matzah Ball. Well Matched (Well Met #3) by Jen DeLuca – Well Met is one of the best contemporary romances that haven been published over the past 3 years, & I of course loved the sequel companion, Well Played. The third book, Well Matched, follows the duo I think we’ve been all waiting to see take the spotlight, April & Mitch, as they agree to fake date. RD: October 19 | Add It on Goodreads

A Season for Second Chances by Jenny Bayliss – I really liked Jenny Bayliss’ holiday romance, The Twelve Dates of Christmas, last holiday season, so I’m looking forward to another holiday book of hers, following a woman who decides to uproot to a seaside town in time for the holiday season. The Singles Table (Marriage Game #3) by Sara Desai – Sara Desai’s Marriage Game books have been really fun and diverse, & as we all know, I want to read nearly any book that has to do with a wedding, including The Singles Table. I think fake dating and enemies-to-lovers have been really big tropes this year, so I’m looking forward to The Singles Table taking on opposites-attract. RD: October 26 | Add It on Goodreads 

When We Were Them by Laura Taylor Namey – Laura Taylor Namey is another YA contemporary author whose work I adore. When Were Them is a friendship book, following three high school seniors on the cusp of graduation, with Willa spending the week before graduation revisiting her memories with her best friends Lux and Britton and what has driven them apart.RD: November 2 | Add It on Goodreads 

The Wedding Ringer by Kerry Rea – Again, give me anything about weddings and I’m there. This book has received early praise for its balance between female friendship and romance, as ex blogger Willa is offered to be a paid bridesmaid by Maisie. RD: November 9 | Add It on Goodreads

Love, Lists, and Fancy Ships by Sarah Grunder Ruiz – Love, Lists, and Fancy Ships is my most anticipated adult contemporary this fall, maybe blame it on my love for Below Deck. The book follows yacht stewardess Jo, who finds herself accompanied for the summer by her two nieces after a family tragedy & has the help her with the bucket list she promised she’d complete by her thirtieth birthday.
