20+ Book Reading Month: July 2021 Wrap Up

Another solid summer vacation month filled with so many books. I’m not even reading for quantity, I have just been genuinely been enjoying reading this summer and it’s the best feeling.

I normally share my monthly wrap up during the week with my regular content, but I decided to save this wrap up for the last day in July because I’ve been reading more than I ever have before & wanted to make sure I have all the books I read this month included. At the time of publishing this post (I may or may not finish my current read today), I’ve read 98 books so far in 2021, and I’m 2 books away from my goal of reading at least 100 books this year. I don’t want to put too much pressure on myself to surpass the amount I read in 2020 (133 books) because I’m beginning my first full time teaching position in September (let’s be honest, part of the reason why this post is getting published today is because I accepted said job offer this week and have been getting prepared), but I do still have more summer vacation so I can see myself reading so much more than usual this year.

I feel I’ve been repeating myself each month, but I read the most amount of books in July than I ever had with 21 books and one-novella. As always, I’ve listed each book with a star rating & I’ve either shared full or mini reviews already or have reviews coming for the books below. My favorites of the month were The Blue Bistro by Elin Hilderbrand and Isn’t It Bromantic? by Lyssa Kay Adams.

Indestructible Object by Mary McCoy | 4/5 Stars

Beth & Amy by Virgina Kantra | 3.5/5

Heart & Seoul by Jen Frederick | 4/5

The Perfect Couple by Elin Hilderbrand | 4/5

If I Never Met You by Mhairi McFarlane | 4.5/5

The Sixth Wedding (28 Summers sequel novella) by Elin Hilderbrand | 4/5

Summerland by Elin Hilderbrand | 4/5

The Rumor by Elin Hilderbrand | 4/5

You’re the Only One I’ve Told: The Stories Behind Abortion by Dr. Meera Shah | 4/5

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell | 4/5 (reread)

The Kindred Spirits Supper Club by Amy E. Reichart | 4.5/5

The Invisible Husband of Frick Island by Colleen Oakley | 4/5

Wayward Son by Rainbow Rowell | 4/5 (reread)

You Were There Too by Colleen Oakley | 3.5/5

Just One Look by Lindsay Cameron | 4/5

From Scratch by Tembi Locke | 4/5

Isn’t it Bromantic by Lyssa Kay Adams | 5/5

The Blue Bistro by Elin Hilderbrand | 5/5

Between You, Me & The Honeybees by Amelia Diane Coombs | 4/5

It’s Kind of A Cheesy Love Story by Lauren Morrill | 4/5

The Summer Job by Lizzy Dent | 3.5/5

The Summer of Lost & Found by Mary Alice Monroe | 3.5/5

Currently Reading: While We Were Dating by Jasmine Guillory

Never Have I Ever S2 (Netflix) – I loved the first season of Never Have I Ever last year, but I LOVED Never Have I Ever Season 2. The show was somehow even funnier – I think it had a slightly more mature tone- and yes, I still can’t choose between Ben or Paxton.

Gossip Girl (2021 Release/HBO Max) – I recently told a friend who was interested in starting the show that this Gossip Girl is a step above a typical CW show in the best way possible. Trust me, I love being able to have access to a whole season like anyone else, but I’ve actually been looking forward to a new episode each week.

Virgin River S3 (Netflix) – My favorite cheesy/cozy TV show is Virgin River and yes, I did binge the latest season in less than 3 days.

Last Letter From Your Lover (Netflix) – One of the rare instances where I haven’t read the book before watching the adaptation! Based on the book by Jojo Moyes, Last Letter From Your Lover alternates between the past and present as a newspaper features writer uncovers an affair from the 1960s between a journalist and a married woman. I’ve heard that some fans of the book haven’t loved the film adaptation, but I really enjoyed this romance drama starring Shailene Woodley and Felicity Jones. The first hour was a little slow, but I was soon hooked learning more about the affair and car accident.

Mare of Easttown (HBO Max) – I was definitely late to the game with Mare of Easttown, but WOW, this show was so good – I think I avoided it for so long because I’m typically not a fan of darker TV shows but I was so hooked.

Continued Watching: Kevin Can F*ck Himself (AMC) – so excited for the finale this week, HSM The Musical S2 – SO disappointed with the finale-, Below Deck Mediterranean S5 (Bravo)

  1. Wow what an amazing reading month haven’t heard of The Kindred Spirits Supper Club before but it looked good. Currently watching S3 of Virgin River and enjoy it so far it’s just the perfect relaxation when you don’t feel like reading 🙂
