Is it summer without a few book hauls to accompany my days spent reading? I’ve been very fortunate to have received review copies from publishers & of course went on few book buying hauls this month (& again, of course, borrow books from my country library). 

Advance Reader’s Copies (ARCs)

As If On Cue by Marisa Kanter – I was extremely fortunate to receive a review copy of Marisa Kanter’s fall YA release, As If On Cue! Her debut, What I Like About You, was one of my FAVORITE books of 2020. I’m so excited to jump into this enemies-to-lovers, as rivals Natalie and Reid are forced to write and direct the school musical together to save the school and and theater budget. As If On Cue comes out on September 21st, 2021. 

Just One Look by Lindsay Cameron –  If you love You (Netflix show or book series by Caroline Kepnes, you have to check out Lindsay Cameron’s Just One Look. This mystery follows Cass, a lawyer who after an epic disaster at her old firm, is currently working as a temp reading through emails for a fraud case and comes across an email for a higher up and his wife and just can’t help but look at their private exchanges. I’m currently reading this one as I write this post, but I am really enjoying it and plan on reading the final 50 pages as soon as I’m done writing!  Just One Look comes out on July 27th, 2021. 

The Witch Haven by Sasha Peyton Smith – I haven’t read a ton of fantasy this year, but I absolutely loved the synopsis of Sasha Peyton Smith’s historical fantasy, The Witch Haven. The book is set in 1911 NYC, following a seventeen year old girl who is sent to a sanitarium only to soon discover it’s a school for witches. The Witch Haven comes out on August 31st, 2021. 

It All Comes Back to You by Farah Naz Rishi – I first heard about It All Comes Back to You in Jess of PeaceLoveBooks’s Anticipated Romance Releases for the Rest of 2021 video & I was then so excited to have been offered the opportunity to review an advance copy. This YA romance follows Muslim American teens Kiran & Deen, who once dated in secret and then broke up when Deen ghosted Kiran & are now forced to help plan their older siblings’ wedding.  It All Comes Back to You comes on September 14th, 2021. 

Paper Airplanes by Tabitha Forney – 9/11 is a very close event to me, so I was really interested in reading Paper Airplanes by Tabitha Forney, a fictional contemporary book following a woman’s life post-9/11 after losing her husband. The author’s husband is a 9/11 survivor and proceeds of the book will go to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation. Paper Airplanes comes out on September 9th, 2021.

The Identicals by Elin Hilderbrand – I think I can borrow nearly every Elin Hilderbrand book from my county library, but I’ve been buying a few of my own copies of her books because I really enjoy reading her summer reads in the appropriate setting (aka the pool or beach) & I try not to read library books in the pool/on the beach to avoid accidental water damage. The Identicals is one of her most recommended books, and Barnes & Noble was selling the hardcover edition for only $8, so I had to order my own copy (if you’re interested, B&N still has copies of the regular hardcover edition for $8 available).

The Blue Bistro by Elin Hilderbrand – The Blue Bistro is another Elin Hilderbrand must-read, and I had a $5 off coupon for Better World Books, which then actually covered my paperback copy of the book. I’ve ordered a few used books from Better World Books, mostly textbooks and a few YA books when the library was closed during the pandemic, & they’ve all been in a fairly good condition for used books, but my copy of The Blue Bistro was nearly like new! 

Any Way the Wind Blows (Simon Snow #3) by Rainbow Rowell (B&N Edition) – I knew I was going to buy Any Way the Wind Blows upon release day to complete my Simon Snow trilogy set and of course read the finale. While part of me regrets not getting my hands on the Waterstones edition with the rose sprayed edge and hardback, I really liked the art included on the end pages of the Barnes & Noble edition and I think I actually prefer the pinkish B&N edition to the blue. 

Isn’t It Bromantic? (Bromance Book Club #4) by Lyssa Kay Adams – I’ve borrowed Bromance Book Club books 1 & 3 from the library and bought my own copy of Undercover Bromance when bookstores & libraries were closed last year, but I HAD to have my own copy of Isn’t It Bromantic? because I couldn’t wait to have my hands on this book following Vlad/The Russian’s love story. 

Current Library Books 

I’m not going to go into detail about all of the books below because I shared most of this in my library holds list post last week, but the only book here I didn’t mention is Melissa Broder’s Milk Fed…and I think I’m going to be picking up The Summer Job by Lizzy Dent and Barefoot by Elin Hilderbrand today from the library, oops.
