You know that feeling you get before you even start reading a book that there’s a very likely possibility that you’re going to completely love it? That’s how I feel about the following 2021 releases! For the past two years, I’ve predicted what new books I would rate five stars as I read in the new year (mini spoiler alert but I went 4/6 for my 2020 new release five star predictions). Since I’ve talked about all the books below in my anticipated release posts for 2021, I’m not going to go into too much about the book itself. I’ll link to their Goodreads if you want to find out more about the synopsis, but I’ll be focusing on why I think it’ll be a five star read.
Everyone Dies Famous in a Small Town by Bonnie Sue Hitchcock | Release Date: April 1
I have so much love for Bonnie Sue Hitchcock’s The Smell of Other People’s Houses that I expect to fall in love with this new book and its writing style just as much. I really like books and honestly stories overall that unexpectedly interweave characters and storylines, and I believe that’s we can expect in this book about the lives of teens in Alaska and the American west. Add it on Goodreads
Twice Shy by Sarah Hogle | RD: April 6
Sarah Hogle’s Twice Shy is another case where I think I’m going to absolutely love this one because I loved her debut, You Deserve Each Other, and the synopsis has me completely smitten – a woman inherits an estate from her great aunt and has to deal with the grumpy groundskeeper. Add it on Goodreads
Last Chance Books by Kelsey Rodkey | RD: May 18
I’ve already given Last Chance Books’ cover a full 5 stars because I’m just obsessed with this book’s illustrations and color scheme. Everyone knows that I love the enemies-to-lovers romance and I can’t think of a better setting for this trope than two rival bookstores. Add it on Goodreads
The Ex Talk by Rachel Lynn Solomon | RD: January 26
I’m sure no one is surprised that The Ex Talk is on this list, given how much I’ve discussed on the blog over the past few months. Why I think I’ll love it? One of my favorite authors, contemporary romance, enemies-to-lovers, and unique setting (public radio in Seattle). Add it on Goodreads
A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J. Maas | RD: February 16
Although I believe I’ve given every book in the Throne of Glass series 5/5 stars and I gave House of Earth & Blood ALL the stars, I didn’t give a full 5 stars to A Court of Wings & Ruin and A Court of Frost and Starlight, the latest two installments in the ACOTAR series. I really think I’m going to give 5 stars to A Court of Silver Flames because Cassian and Nesta are two of my absolute favorite characters in this series and I think SJM’s writing has gotten even stronger in her latest releases. Add it on Goodreads
People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry | RD: May 11
Emily Henry’s 2020 release, Beach Read, had this perfect blend of romance and depth, and I have a feeling People We Meet on Vacation is going to also deliver on that same feeling. Add it on Goodreads
We Can’t Keep Meeting Like This by Rachel Lynn Solomon | RD: June 1
I LOVE a YA book with weddings and/or events as the backdrop (see my love for Morgan Matson’s Save the Date and Kasie West’s Maybe This Time). Again, I absolutely loved reading Rachel Lynn Solomon’s books in 2020, and I really think this book will deliver on the rom-com feels. Add it on Goodreads
What books do you think you’ll absolutely love this year? Are any of these books on your TBR? Should I make 5 star predictions for some backlist books on my TBR? Share in the comments!
Probably ‘What’s not to love’ by Emily and Austin! I can’t wait for it to come out!!
