It’s hard to believe that summer is halfway over, let alone 2020. I’ve read 60 books and 2 novellas so far (mid July) this year. I’m pretty content with how much I’ve read given the varying states of everyday life in 2020. 60 books was actually my Goodreads Reading Challenge goal, but my personal reading goal is to read 100 books. Again, given 2020, I won’t be too upset if I don’t reach 100 by the end of the year, especially because I feel like I’ve read so many quality books.
Since we’re reaching the midway point of summer and 2020 this week, today I’ll be sharing some of my favorite books of 2020. I won’t be going into too much detail because I’ve already gushed over so many of these in reviews & other posts, and there will of course be a 2020 favorites reads post or two by the end of the year.
Favorites
You Deserve Each Other by Sarah Hogle
You Deserve Each Other is the funniest & most sarcastic enemies-to-lovers contemporary romance I’ve ever read! It features an engaged couple, Naomi & Nicholas, who maybe want to cancel their upcoming wedding but neither wants to be stuck with the nonrefundable bill.
Beach Read by Emily Henry
Beach Read is seriously the must read (beach read) of the summer. Beach Read combines so much of what I love in contemporary romances and in all of my contemporary reads: summer, the beach, writing, enemies-to-lovers, self-growth, and a romance scene or two.
Today Tonight Tomorrow by Rachel Lynn Solomon
There are SO many amazing YA books on this favorites list, but I think my YA heart belongs to Rachel Lynn Solomon’s upcoming Today Tonight Tomorrow.
Well Met by Jen DeLuca
I must have been bitten by the enemies-to-lovers trope this year, which of course included Jen DeLuca’s Ren Faire romance, Well Met.
More Than Maybe by Erin Hahn
Erin Hahn’s More Than Maybe is another YA contemporary that absolutely swept me off my feet. The relationship development and music premise was so well executed.
Tweet Cute by Emma Lord
Tweet Cute is hands-down a must-read of 2020 YA book. Imagine enemies-to-lovers (have you noticed the theme now?), Twitter wars, and lots of grilled cheese.
House of Earth & Blood (Crescent City #1) by Sarah J. Maas
Like many readers, Sarah J. Maas’s first adult fantasy series stole my heart. It was the perfect combination of high-stakes, detailed fantasy and romance.
Chasing Lucky by Jenn Bennett
My reading year cannot be complete without at least 1 favorite Jenn Bennett book. Chasing Lucky’s release date was unfortunately pushed back until November, but having fortunately read an ARC, the wait is SO worth the read.
What I Like About You by Marisa Kanter
If you love books about books, book BLOGS, and fandoms, Marisa Kanter’s debut, What I Like About You, is an absolute must-read!
Harley in the Sky by Akemi Dawn Bowman
Harley in the Sky is another book that totally took me by surprise. The circus/acrobatic setting was well executed & explored so much about mental health.
The Risk (Briar U #2) by Elle Kennedy
I really enjoyed the last 3 books in Elle Kennedy’s Briar U series this year, but The Risk was by far my favorite read. I LOVED Breanna and Jake’s romance and the book’s plot so much.
Honorable Mentions:
Have a Little Faith in Me by Sonia Hartl
The Idea of You by Robinne Lee
Playing with Matches by Hannah Orenstein
Josh & Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren
The Honey-Don’t List by Christina Lauren
Undercover Bromance (The Bromance Book Club #2) by Lyssa Kay Adams
break your glass slippers by amanda lovelace

Eeee! This is such a good list. I am going to my family’s lake house next week and I have been compiling the ultimate romance TBR list for my stay. Thanks to social distancing I can read more (lol). My most favorite book of 2020 so far has been “Endless – A Seattle Rockstar Romance” by author Kaylene Winter. I am always ALWAYS a sucker for a guy with a “tortured” past who actually is sweet and wonderful once you know the REAL him… I can’t help it! Why do I like damaged goods? The premise of this book is that Ty is the “bad boy” rock star who falls in love with Zoey “good girl – good student – exact opposite of Ty” ….They have a whirlwind romance that leads to Zoey ghosting him because she wants to be a lawyer and knows she has to focus on school, etc. Fast forward to their reunion and all the drama that ensues. I don’t want to give too much away but I could NOT put this book down and I loved both characters (which is rare… I usual like the guy more)… You can read more about it on the author’s website. I really hope you will check it out
