Right after reading of course, my favorite way to relax and unwind is with a good binge-worthy TV show or ten. While there are plenty of books I am looking forward to in 2020, today I’ll be discussing the TV shows and films that I can’t wait to hit the big screen and my small screen this year.

TV

Schitt’s Creek S6 (Pop TV)

Release Date: January 7

Although I just discovered Schitt’s Creek in 2019, I know the final season of the show will be bittersweet because it’s just so well-done and it will be so sad to know that it’s over!

Zumbo’s Just Desserts (Netflix)

Release Date: January 10

Everyone knows that I love a good baking competition show. One of my favorites is Zumbo’s Just Desserts. I’ve been honestly waiting for a second season since finishing the first one in October 2018.

Grace and Frankie S6 (Netflix)

Release Date: January 15

Grace and Frankie just might be the show I am anticipating the most on this list! After binge-watching the first five seasons this summer, Grace and Frankie absolutely stole my TV-loving heart.

Sex Education S2 (Netflix)

Release Date: January 117

Sex Education is a crowd favorite amongst my college friends. There’s definitely some mature content involved, but each episode had me laughing out loud.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine S7 (NBC)

Release Date: February 6 

Brooklyn Nine-Nine gives me such Parks & Rec feels in its own unique way. I’m so excited that it’s been renewed for an eight season as well!

The Politician S2 (Netflix)

Release Date: expected June 2020

I’ve basically needed the second season of The Politician as soon as I finished the first season in October. From the cast to the drama to the music, I love every single element about this show and honestly have no idea what to expect from season 2.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel S4 (Amazon Prime)

Release Date: possible fall 2020

It was announced that The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel would be getting a fourth season shortly after season 3 premiered back in December. There’s usually a year in between new seasons of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, but since the fourth season was recently announced, I’m not sure we’ll have it by the end of the year (although I obviously really hope we do because of THAT ending!).

The Babysitters Club (Netflix)

Release Date: TBD

One of the most and one of my most beloved childhood book series, I am so looking forward to the TV adaptation of The Babysitters Club! I think this show will help introduce the books to a new generation. I’m so looking forward to returning to some of my early reading nostalgia.

Derry Girls S3 (Netflix)

Release Date: TBD

There’s a chance that Derry Girls season 3 won’t come out on US Netflix in 2020, since production doesn’t start until then and the show first premieres in the UK before the entire season moves on to Netflix. Derry Girls is easily one of my favorite Netflix shows ever, so again here’s to hoping!

Workin’ Moms S4 (Netflix)

Release Date: TBD 

Like Derry Girls, putting Workin’ Moms season 4 on this list is a plea for the latest season to actually hit Netflix in 2020. The show first airs in Canada before premiering on Netflix, and right now it is set to premiere on the CBC in winter 2020.

P.S. I Still Love You (Netflix)

Release Date: February 12

Likely the most anticipated movie across Bookternet, I could not be more than excited for the To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before sequel, P.S. I Still Love You, to hit Netflix in February. As someone who holds TATBILB the book very close to her fangirl heart, I really thought the first adaptation captured the book’s heart and I expect the sequel to do the same. I’m really interested to see what happens in the film since the first movie ventured into the second book.

All the Bright Places (Netflix)

Release Date: February 28

If there’s one book-to-movie adaptation us bookworms have been waiting forever for, it’s Jennifer Niven’s All the Bright Places. I first read the book back in 2016. I don’t have reread plans before watching the film, but I hope it really lives up to the wait. Fortunately, Netflix has done really well with all of its YA adaptations!

Wonder Woman 1984

Release Date: June 4

Wonder Woman is one of my favorite superhero films ever. I was disappointed that the sequel didn’t come out in 2019, but I know the wait will be worth it.
