As Top Five Wednesday continues it summer hiatus, I am revisiting some old topics from before I joined the group. This week, I’ll be jumping back to June 2016, in which us Top Five Wednesday-ers get to talk about our favorite blog posts. While talking about books and all the fangirl things is my favorite blogging topic, I also enjoy reflecting on blogging in general. Today I’ll be discussing my favorite blog posts that I’ve written.
“To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before Inspired Baking”
My To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before inspired baking post is the most viewed post on Fangirl Fury. When I originally wrote this post, I think I was going to write a TATBILB viewing party prep list, but I connected with my inner Lara Jean and focused on three recipes inspired from the book. The chocolate chip cookie bar and Snickerdoodles recipes are my own, while I used the white chocolate cranberry cookie recipe from the paperback edition of TATBILB. My biggest regret when it comes to this post is not making everyone hungry by including photos of the cookies. I am for sure doing another baking post for the Netflix adaptation of P.S. I Still Love You.
“Book Con Survival Guide for the Best Weekend”
Any of my Book Con and Book Expo posts and recaps are always among my favorites to write and reread because I just hold so much love for the week/weekend. I’ve received so much positive feedback from so many people about this post based on my 2015 and 2017 Book Con experiences. I took some notes after Book Expo 2019 this year and I plan on writing a Book Expo survival guide for next April or May.
“2019 FAVORITE READ: Serious Moonlight Review & Inspired Recipe”
I’ve talked a lot about Jenn Bennett’s Serious Moonlight this year, partially because I am so happy I received it for review still, partially because Jenn Bennett is one of my favorite authors, partially because this book is one of my favorite books of the year (if not my #1), and partially because this post received so much amazing feedback, including from Jenn herself. One of the main settings in Serious Moonlight is the Moonlight Diner, home to many delicious-sounding pies. As an amateur baker, I can say that I haven’t ventured too much farther than apple pie and chocolate pudding pie, but I had a recipe for chocolate chip cookie pie that I was so excited to try. I ended up absolutely loving it and shared the recipe in my review. On Twitter, Jenn Bennett shared my review and much love for the pie.
“Beach & Baking: Small Town Hearts Review and Recipe”
As you may be able to tell, my review and inspired recipe again for Small Town Hearts really solidified how much I enjoy incorporate baking into my posts. Small Town Hearts was also somewhat unexpectedly- how could I not love a summer contemporary?- one of my favorite books of the year and it was such a fun blog tour to be part of. The included coffee cake within this review is also one of my all time favorite foods.
“Escaping the Hype: How to Find Non-Blog Book Recommendations”
Writing this post was a fun way to reflect on and share how I find books to add on to my TBR. Bookstore and library hangouts are highly encouraged. I wish I talked about Book Page a bit more because I am seriously in love with this free monthly magazine that I pick at the library. It includes reviews for current and upcoming titles across many genres.
