The Sunshine Blogger Award is one of my favorite awards that floats around the book blogging-sphere. I was nominated and did the tag twice back in 2017, but recently Alexandra from Reading by Starlight nominated me for the award again! I really enjoy this award/tag because I love reading and answering the creative questions and answers everyone comes up with.
It’s doomsday – what is the last book you want to read before the world ends?
Currently American Royals by Katharine McGee, because I’m so excited to read it.
Quick! I’m stuck in a slump! What’s your go-to recommendation?
To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han, because contemporary books are typically faster to read than most genres. And once you meet the Song-Covey girls (and Peter K.) you’ll soon be moving on to books two and three.
What is your favorite setting to read about, be it realistic or fantasy?
Beach town and bakeries set in the summer are preferred.
Create a 5 song playlist for any book, series or character.
I’m going with a playlist for one of my most recent reads, Open Road Summer by Emery Lord:
- “I’m Only Me When I’m With You” by Taylor Swift
- “Fallin’ All In You” by Shawn Mendes
- “Cry Pretty” by Carrie Underwood
- “Use Somebody” cover by Shawn Mendes
- “Golden Hour” by Kacey Musgraves
What was your last one star read? Why did you rate it so low?
I really don’t rate books one star because if I’m not enjoying a book that much, I DNF. My last DNF was Permanent Record by Mary H.K. Choi. I want to enjoy her books so much, but I just don’t like her characters between this book and Emergency Contact.
Who is your most recent book boyfriend and tell us what makes them so swoon-worthy?
I think he’s my perpetual book boyfriend, but it’s Max Watson from my reread of The Start of Me and You. How could I not like a guy who likes spending time drinking coffee in a bookstore?
Which standalone needs a sequel?
I recently did a Top Five Wednesday based on this topic, but I was reminded in the comment section about Rainbow Rowell’s Eleanor and Park. Contemporary books have a bad rap for having rushed endings or having to wonder what’s next for the characters, but Eleanor and Park’s ending deserves a scream worthy, “That’s it!?!”.
Name an author you are desperate to meet and, if you met them, what would you ask them?
I would love to meet Ruta Sepetys because she is my favorite historical fiction author. I would ask her if she plans on writing more books set during the World War II era.
You a suffering through a major book hangover. What fluff book serves as the best cure?
Unclaimed Baggage by Jen Doll
A book you secretly love?
I really don’t have any books I loved that I don’t scream about across the Internet, but one book that I recently loved compared to most readers was Maurene Goo’s Somewhere Only We Know.
It’s time to assemble your bookish squad! Which characters make the cut?
I’m going with the amazing best friend squad based on some of my recent reads:
Dee from Open Road Summer by Emery Lord
Micah from Maybe This Time by Kasie West
June & Nora (and basically all the other characters) from Red, White & Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston
What characters would be part of your bookish squad? Have you read any of the books that I mentioned? Share in the comments!
Thank you so much for answering my questions, Haley! Especially because this is the third time for you! I’ve never read Open Road Summer or any books by Kasie West but they always seem to be popping up in my feed so I guess I better give them a try. I do love a good sun-kissed romance! ❤
