One of my absolute favorite TV shows, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, returns to it’s new home on NBC this Thursday, January 10. This show, at least in my fangirl brain, is known for its end-of-season cliffhangers, so I’m looking forward to seeing where Season 6 kicks off. In honor of Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s return, today I’ll be sharing book recommendations based on B99 main characters.

A NEW FAVORITE BOOK: The Wicked King Review
Since The Wicked King is the sequel to Holly Black’s The Cruel Prince, I will not be providing a summary. For my The Cruel Prince thoughts, check out my mini review.
My Rating: 5/5 Stars
Cover Lust?: Yes! I love the similarities to The Cruel Prince’s cover and the nods to what happens in the book
My Thoughts:
As many of you know, Holly Black’s The Cruel Prince took over the online book communities in 2018. The hype for TCP definitely pulled me in, and while I did enjoy it, I wasn’t head-over-heels in love unlike many readers. Until The Wicked King came along.
I can 100% say that it was worth surviving a mosh pit at Book Expo 2018 to get an ARC of The Wicked King because this book is freaking fantastic. While it was the first 2019 release that I’ve read so far, I can easily say it’s one of the best 2019 releases.
ALL THE BOOKS PLEASE: Most Anticipated 2019 Non-Contemporary Releases
If you thought 2018 was filled with ALL the amazing new books (which it was), think again. 2019 is truly going to be an awesome year for YA book releases. Many of my all-time favorite authors are coming out with such exciting titles (helloooo Rainbow Rowell), so this reader definitely needs to be saving all of her bookstore gift cards from Christmas.
While this list does not include every single book I’m anticipating in 2019 (because your fingers would hate me from all of that scrolling and I’ve already recapped my most anticipated contemporary releases), today I’m going to be discussing the non- contemporary books I absolutely cannot wait to grace my bookshelves.
The Wicked King (The Folk of Air #2) by Holly Black (January 8)– I’ve cheated a little bit with The Wicked King, considering that I was fortunate enough to read an ARC in 2018. But let me tell you, I am so ready to reread this The Cruel Prince sequel already because it impressed me that much. And yes, I’ll be crying until The Queen of Nothing.
The Winter of the Witch (Winternight #3) by Katherine Arden (January 8)– I needed this book in October after I unexpectedly devoured The Girl in the Tower in less than two days. I’m really not ready for the Winternight trilogy to end, but I am ready to see what Katherine Arden has in store for Vasya and co.
FANGIRL CHRISTMAS: Book & Fandom Haul December 2018
While the new year is such a refreshing time, this fangirl is still getting over her Christmas spirit. Christmas time is always a good time for this reader and fangirl. While I wasn’t expecting too many fangirlish presents from Santa (my family) this year, I was so surprised, excited and fortunate enough to receive the following bookish and fangirl items.
Books
I didn’t go all out asking for books on Christmas list this year, mostly because I’m running out of bookshelf space and your girl loves supporting her local library.
