Summer is finally upon us! I’ve been kicking off the season with plenty of reading by the pool and beach, having read 12 books this month, and staying in the AC watching way more than I realized!

I think someone deserves a trip to Barnes & Noble soon (says the girl whose bedroom floor has become its own bookshelf) because I wrote reviews for all of the following books! While some of them may not be live yet, check out the What I Wrote section for the ones that are.

The Bold Type- Season 2 of The Bold Type just started this month, and I am obsessed with what  is easily Freeform’s best TV show. I loved reading Teen Vogue and Seventeen growing up (middle school me dreamed of being a fashion journalist), so I love the news/magazine/fashion/social media setting that makes up The Bold Type. Why can’t there be more than one episode each week??

Chef’s Table: Christina Tosi- Living close to NYC constantly makes you aware of what’s hot in the dessert scene, so I had to watch Christina Tosi’s episode of Netflix’s Chef’s Table. Christina is the owner of Milk Bar, a popular dessert & ice cream chain that is known for it’s cereal milk  ice cream.

The Staircase- Probably the most unexpected watch this month, like many, I have become obsessed with Neftlix’s documentary series called The Staircase (apparently I’ve also become a bit obsessed with documentaries this month??). My parents really enjoyed Making a Murderer, so I decided to watch this new crime docuseries with them. And after finishing its fourteen episodes, I. am. Still. OBSSESSED. And can’t figure who’s guilty.

Ocean’s Eight– Since Ocean’s Eleven is one of my favorite movies, I had to see its female powerhouse companion, Ocean’s Eight. After seeing some mixed reviews, I am so happy to report that I loveddd Ocean’s Eight! It has such a phenomenal cast and had me laughing out loud throughout.

The Handmaid’s Tale- My love for my local library grew for this fangirl who currently doesn’t have Hulu for ordering Season 1 of The Handmaid’s Tale. Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale was the best book I read in high school and although I can only speak for the first season, I am so impressed by it in general and how close it is to the book.

Book Expo and Book Con 2018- Sorry not sorry, but I think know that I will never stop talking about Book Expo and Book Con, aka the best bookish four days EVER. I have experience posts for all four days above along with my combined haul. In short, I am beyond grateful that I was able to attend both events because I received SO many amazing anticipated releases and getting to meet SO many fellow booknerds. It’s been really fun to keep in touch with everyone I met online this month!

Starting a New Blogging Notebook- I’m almost done with my original blogging notebook that I started in March 2017 (when I officially full it, it’ll be a life happening in July!). I use my notebook for almost anything involving my blog- scheduling, reading notes, post ideas, TBRs,etc. With this new notebook, I’m going to keep track of my monthly stats (views and follower counts) and try to keep track of comments, which I am inspired to do so by Dani of Perspective of a Writer (check out her awesome post where…).

Going to Milk Bar- I’ve always wanted to go to Milk Bar, but Chef’s Table sent me there ASAP. On my most recent trip to the city, I went to the midtown location and if there’s one place that lives up to the hype, it’s Milk Bar. I had the cereal milk soft serve with rainbow sprinkles and it tasted so good- it really does taste like the milk in a bowl of cornflakes! I also picked up some cookies to take home for my family, which were compost, cornflake chocolate chip marshmallow, and chocolate chocolate. I’m definitely going to try and go there again for ice cream (I want to try pretzel and chocolate) or crack (butter) pie.

Instagram Game Update- Since April, I’ve been working on improving my Instagram/bookstagram game. Over the past two months, I’ve gained about 60 followers and I’ve really pushed myself to post at least 6 times a week, if not everyday. This month was especially fun because I was featured on Siobhan Vivian’s and Turner Publishing’s Instagram Stories for Stay Sweet and Mammoth respectively.

ALSO I AM SO EXCITED AND THANKFUL TO TURNER PUBLISHING FOR SENDING ME AN ARC OF MAMMOUTH BY JILL BAGUCHINSKY, AKA ONE OF MY MOST ANTICIPATED 2018 RELEASES! Honestly, June was my best book mail month to date between preorder incentives for Save the Date and Stay Sweet, Mammouth, Sadie by Courtney Summers from St. Martin’s Press, blog tours for Save the Date and The Accidental Bad Girl, and books for trade (I got Royals by Rachel Hawkins and an ARC of Aminah Mae Safi’s Not the Girls You’re Looking For).
